Informational Meeting
7PM, Thursday, June 15th
North Scituate Baptist Church

Many of us deeply sigh over the rotten condition of our society. Families are breaking down, marriage is collapsing, and adolescence has come under the assault of gender confusion. There seems to be no up or down, no right or wrong, just opinions and the power of the mob.

We sigh, and sigh again. Is there something we can do? Anything?

In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus tells his disciples this:
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The darkness surrounds, but Jesus says that we have a light to shine that will bring others to God. The key is this – we must not hide. Christians have to step out and up so that others may see.

We have an opportunity to do just this in establishing an afterschool Bible program in one of our elementary schools here in Scituate. Child Evangelism Fellowship has decades of experience in this ministry and has successfully started “Good New Clubs” here in Rhode Island. As pastors of evangelical churches here in town, Ryan Baker, Tom Loghry, Raymond Gambuto, and Kim Nelson believed it would be worthwhile to offer an informational meeting about starting such a club in one of our schools.

Ultimately, at least six volunteers will be needed. Together, can the congregations of Faith Tabernacle Church, Stillwater Christian Fellowship, North Scituate Baptist Church, and Rockland Community Church assemble such a team? If we can, it would be a great witness to our neighbors of the Christian unity that Jesus prays for in John 17.  Together, we would display the light of Christ to the children of our community; no longer just sighing, but standing and shining. Join us on the 15th to learn more.
